First Post Ever
I have been confronted by people to start a blog. So here goes ............. Please be patient with me as I learn the ropes here.
I wanted to start a blog to be able to show my art work. I am going to be teaching at some retreats this year and having a blog will allow me to post pictures of my work on a more timely basis than on my website and I can verbally add technique instructions and comments as I go along.
My first retreat venture this year will be on the beautiful Island of Kauai, Hawaii in April. You can see my website for more information and an application for this www.lasfibers.com This retreat is limited to 12 people. The initial deadline was Dec. 31 for deposits but there are a couple of openings left so if you're interested there are still spaces!
I am hosting this retreat along with DJ Pettitt. DJ's work is so phenomenal and she is a fabulously patient teacher. The first day of the retreat I will conduct in dyeing fabrics and ribbons (like the samples shown). The next 2 1/2 days Dj will be showing us how to embellish and fashion these fabrics into a book adding her wonderful "Island Girl" drawings printed on fabric that we will paint and stylize.
I am so excited to be part of this! To see a sample book DJ created for the Kauai retreat visit her website at http://www.djpettitt.com
I have also been accepted to teach this fabric/ribbon dyeing class at Art & Soul in Portland 2007. I'll be posting more samples in the next weeks.
I guess I can crow here about being published in the Somerset Wedding 3 issue. I don't know if it's out on the newsstand yet but should be soon. It's full of wonderful ideas that don't have to be strictly applied to weddings!
