The Sad News ..........

Santa Cruz County and the whole world of Americana music is saddened by the death of KPIG (formerly KFAT) radio pioneer Laura Ellen Hopper. It's all over the papers and the outpouring of us who will miss her is tremendous. Just go to www.kpig.com or search her name and you'll see what all the fuss and grieving is about. I wasn't a personal friend of hers but did talk with her on occasions, the last being a nice chat at the KPIG songwriters Festival at Villa Montalvo last year while we rocked to The Subdudes ...... I was hoping for more conversations with her.

KPIG is the best damn radio station ever! Laura you'll be missed, my condolences to your family.

Cloth book pages

I've been working on cloth book pages and created an album for my Mother-in-law's 90th birthday but put it together so quickly before we had a beach party on Sat. that I didn't have time to scan it, so I have no pictures of that one to post but here are two sides of a page I worked on today for a round robin I'm in.

Tomorrow I have my weekly writing class but before that I'm starting something I know I've needed to do for a long time ........... yes, I'll be hittin ' the gym. UGH! So I am hunting down the old sports bras and gym clothes, and see if I can stuff myself into them without too much difficulty and wind my way over to the gym and hope I'm not embarrassed too much!!

Confession - I got tagged

Proving myself as a new blogger: I received an email that informed me I had been "tagged". Not knowing what this meant I went to the blog site of Joanne Huffman (she who tagged me) and discovered this means I'm suppose to reveal 7 random facts about myself. So here goes:

1) I like sushi and Mexican food (not together)

2) My favorite colors are earth tones, brick reds, copper, kahki drab to name a few.

3) I am part of an ongoing creative writing class.

4) I attended a fashion college and was offered a job with McCalls Pattern Co. when I was 18 but it was in New York City and I was scared to move there.

5) I played clarinet in high school

6) I worked as a bookkeeper/accountant for 15 years

7) I drive a Subaru

Now I assume I'm suppose to tag 7 people ...... hhmmmmmm I have to think about this.

Leaving Town

I wanted to post some more of the Soul Collage cards I've been making but I have to leave town early tomorrow morning and haven't had time to scan anything. I was busy making a wayward threads stole for a wedding and just delivered it and realize I didn't take a picture of it! DUH?!!

I will be gone until after the 20th and doubt I'll have much access to a computer. So until then.......... I'll leave you with this photo of the full moon coming up over Loma Prieta.

May Day Faire

I am one of twelve artists participating in a May Day Faire in Santa Cruz on Sunday. See the postcard for details.

I've been busy dyeing my usual wares, scarves and wraps and I've made some more of the Mother's Day books. You can view them at Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/8069662@N03/?savedsettings=480537676#photo480537676
(copy and paste)

I still have to finish putting eyelets in but then they're done. Wish I had time to make more and to get some cards made but it's not looking like that will happen.

This is our third year to gather for this show at my friend Nancy's beautiful garden! If you live in the vicinity I hope you can drop by!
