Recuperating and Collage
I read about what would be involved in recuperating from the surgery I had to repair a herniated esophagus (fundoplication). I knew it would take longer to heal than I want it to. 6 - 8 weeks in general but it varies differently for some people. It's been 4 weeks and I have a ways to go.
This didn't stop me from taking a class on Saturday with my dear friend and artist extraordinaire Roxanne Evans Stout. I needed to get out of the house and because I can't lift heavy things or bend up and down a lot, the sort of things I would have to do to get ready to travel and teach a class, I saw Roxanne had a one day collage class where she provided most everything we'd need. I thought I needed to do that.
We started out by creating mandalas from gatherings we found outside. It was a small group but I met some wonderful women who I think I will be in touch with again.
While the class itself was insightful and nurtured my creative, side the trip itself was a little too much too soon. Cest la vie.
It was lovely to spend a day with other creative souls and be guided by Roxanne to create with whatever came to our minds.
The collage I created is a storyboard and will hang on the wall. Here are some images. I'm not quite finished. I have to add some way to hang it. I'm thinking of coiling wire and adding beads but that idea could change when I get back to working on it.
I'm back to resting and stitching and following a diet of eating small amounts of food at a time and NO CARBONATION! I tried that and it didn't go over well. The procedure I had done doesn't allow me to burp or vomit. I won't go into details, if you want them go look up the procedure and you can read all about it. :-) yeah.

Lovely post Lorri, peaceful and inspiring... so happy you could be at this workshop, it was great for me to watch as this creation emerged. Your new quiet, slow stitching is stunning too. xox roxanne
Beautiful work. Take it easy and recover as best you can.
Love the collage work and glad to hear you are healing, if more slowly than you would like. We missed you in St. Louis last weekend but the sales were a bit disappointing. Sharon wasn't there either so there was a definite void there! Keep healing and creating, girl!

Lovely post Lorri.. happy you are recovering so speedily!!
So glad to see that you are on the mend, Lorri. Recuperation is a great time for reflection and for renewed inspiration. Having just recovered from a brief illness myself, I can say that the period of "enforced" rest was good for me physically and creatively. Hang in there.
